A few kind words from my hosts
I have done several workshops with
various Bonsai experts, but this was the best hands-on workshops
I have ever attended. And it is the first time I walked away from a workshop
where the tree I was
working on was truly transformed. Darrell

Craig,
I think you were wonderful, you did a great demonstration when you were
at Wildwood Gardens, In Chardon, Ohio. But more than that just doing
a demonstration, you taught the people in the audience too. I think
any club would be remiss if they did not have you visit when your in the
country! Please use us as a reference any time! And you are always
welcome at our Nursery and Club!
Sincerely, Your friend,
Frank Mihalic

Dear
Craig,
Thank you once again for your magnificent lecture and
demonstration to the
Akron - Canton Bonsai Society.
Ohio is considered the “heartland” of the
USA, traditional middle America.
Unlike folks on the east and west
coasts, Ohioans in general have heard little and know less about bonsai
and
penjing.
Your
lecture and demo were great! You explained the history and
techniques in ways that everyone could understand.
Your humor really helped
to set folks at ease while you prepared a wonderful group planting of
Shimpaku junipers.
You stimulated a number of people to join our club, former
members to renew their membership, and we’re beginning to give
classes for beginners.
Your appearance was a real shot in the arm for
popularizing bonsai in our region.
Warmest regards,
Bob
Heath
President, ACBS

Craig...
Your visit to here to Victoria appears to have been quite a success. Our small
Study Club that had the pleasure of working with you privately on the Friday as
well as our membership at large on Saturday appreciated your forthright
presentation and the imagination which was so ably applied to workshop trees and
your demonstration after lunch.
For myself, I was apprehensive at first in removing the dominant top from the
Mountain hemlock that I had collected at some 4000' of elevation several years
ago but I have grown to accept that this was the proper decision. Take a look at
the cover winter issue of Bonsai Today for an approximation of what my tree will
eventually look like once the trunk carving is finished, probably next year.
The hemlock resides still in my poly house along with the Yew which charmed our
club as you worked on it. I have misted them both eash day but now that spring
has arrived, both trees make their public debut at our members Annual Field Day
next Sunday.
Thanks from us all to both you and Svetlana for coming to Victoria. We hope to
see you again,
George Heffelfinger
Past president, Vancouver Island Bonsai Club

My passion is Bonsai, great landscapes, my boat on Loch Lomond, Argentine Tango and my wife. I capture brief seconds in time with my camera and have done that for 51 years. Hence my photo library extends to something like 500 thousand images. My Bonsai library alone is over 200 thousand which makes illustrating my books a relatively easy task. If you like landscapes both natural and urban, please visit some of my recent journeys around the globe. I don't purport to be a great photographer but simply a happy snapper with a bit of an eye for the unusual detail and the majestic vista.

Emotionally powerful. Takes you outside

Even over the internet this comes across.
Thank you for sharing such spectacular work, Ann Thomas
