Our vacation this year was to Alaska and Vancouver. The cruise
was very nice but only allowed us four or five hours on land in each port and
that was hardly enough to explore and enjoy the country. We realised that many
people on the cruise were just happy to go shopping in the overpriced stores in
each port the cruise lines pretended were good value. I think its called a
cruise brain when your common sense goes on vacation while your cruise brain
makes
stupid purchases. Only one real sour note on the outward and inward
flights and that was the extreme weight restrictions imposed on us by the
carrier that we were flying with. Less than 20 Kilos total which for two weeks
away was not much. I wanted to take more 'gear' but that was to prove either
extremely costly or impractical. Suffice to say that on our return we had to pay
a lot of excess baggage for my collection of Suiseki garnered from the wilds of
Alaska. Apart from that we had a great time and look forward to returning to
this part of the globe on our own steam next time. We experienced many
adventures on shore excursions and while not very long with the longest being 7
hours in Skagway and the rest four hours, we still got a feel for the place to
make us want to return.
