Some general views during June and July 2009

There are a number of areas in my small Bonsai Garden. I am not a dealer and my garden is not open to the public.
Part of the garden is given over to many different varieties of Maples and these form a backdrop.
Most of the garden is surrounded by Japanese Style Bamboo fencing and areas have been created to display the Bonsai on Posts.
The ground under the posts is large purple slate shards as smaller slate crumbles and  becomes dust after a while..
There are four display areas and three work areas. I have two workshops and two over wintering areas.

The large Shishi Gashira Maple was planted as a cutting by a friend, Ken Shalliker , in1974. I have been working on the refinement for three years now. The pot is an antique Japanese pot by the  19th century potter, Yoshimura. I like Shishis and have many from Shohin to medium sizes and a very large one growing in my garden as a normal tree. I am experimenting with foliage reduction techniques during 2009 and 2010

Pines and yews- the column and stones form a water feature

View South-most trees in this collection are in work all the time. Either wiring or unwiring, pruning or shaping. The workshop in on the top right

General view West- In Scotland the weather tends to pretty wet with better weather in the earlier part of the year from April to end of May and then rain until September and hopefully a little better weather to round our damp year off.

Large Chinese Elm View South. In the background through the maples is a Finnish Bench Swing for four people with a central table encased in Japanese Style bamboo fencing. Very nice in the evening for a glass of wine or a coffee after dinner. There are solar lights throughout the garden subtly lighting the pathways.
