The artist is Linyuan.

Linyuan is a famous artist from Changsha, Hunan Province, He graduated from Shanghai College. The subject of his paintings form a wide-range. His paintings are vivid and colourful, and contain a very pure Chinese style. He is very popular in China.  This scroll was created in 2000.

This is a magnificent scroll fully mounted on silk with hardwood ends.

Painting size is 54 inches long by 27 inches wide

This Scroll comes with a hand made Scroll box in traditional wood and covered with embroidered silk.

Cranes are very auspicious birds in both Japanese and Chinese culture and many Japanese homes will have a Chinese picture of Cranes. Cranes mate for life and are extremely loving birds. I have a number of these larger scrolls as well as some smaller scrolls with Cranes

The Magpie in the Willow (Osier Sinensis)

Scroll signature :  Xu Beihong dated 1947

Xu Beihong (1895 to 1953) was a internationally renowned artist and art teacher. He specialised in Chinese Ink painting and achieved great recognition for his work. His most famous painting is of a horse, The Beihong Horse.

He was held in great respect in Chinese Art circles and has been studied in many countries where he held a number of exhibitions. He eventually became the first director of the China Art Academy and the first Chairman of the China Artistry Association.  His works are in a number of private and public collections.
